The Trail

This set of photos are from Hell's Revenge.  This is one of my favorite trails at Moab because it is steep and challenging.  But, unlike the Moab Rim, you will (likely) not die.  The scenery from Hell's is off the chart.  Since you are on top of the mesa, you have a clear (and proximate) view of the beautiful La Salle mountains to the east of Moab..

The Photos

Hell's Revenge trail.  Yes, it was steep.

Top of the mesa, at the overlook of the Colorado River. Breathtaking views, large cliffs.

Entry to the "Gates of Hell" obstace.  I did not go with the 1300, though in retrospect it would have done fine.

Down into the "Gates".  Very steep indeed. Note section just in front of jeep.

Spectators watching an ascent. It is critical that you have the right line and straddle the crack in just the right spot.

Uh, wrong line.

Dude, really wrong line.  He was attempting to power through this.

He is in danger of doing an endo; both front wheels are off the ground.  Note Scotty's expression in the back.  He was aggressively on the power to the very last.  Happily, he did not roll.

Ascending to a view point.

At the top near the view point.

It is just as steep as it looks.  Can you say endo?

Playing in a hole.

A steep exit.  Note rubber marks on the rocks.  Kai is videoing the event.

Fins and the beautiful La Salle Mountains near Moab, UT .
